Crime drama series have been always loved by the viewers be it crime investigation series or a series like The Sopranos, in which we have focus on the life of head of the Mafia organization Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini).

I hope you remember The Sopranos episodes and the huge cast of the series. If you have little remembrance of the series then let me refresh your memory with its action and drama filled episodes. It was a series whose plot was based as to how Mafia head Tony Soprano manages his life be it his family relations or his crime organization. It had a huge star cast performing various characters including main lead Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini), Dr.Jennifer Melfi (Lorraine Bracco), Tony’s wife Carmela Soprano (Edie Falco), Meadow Soprano (Jamie- Lynn Sigler), Anthony Junior (Robert Iler), Livia (Nancy Marchand), Janice (Aida Turturro), Silvio Dante (Steven Van Zandt), Salvatore Bonpensiero (Vincent Pastore) and many more.

Fans viewed the star cast of The Sopranos series together on 10th June 2007 on which The Sopranos Season 6 finale episode was aired. Since then the fans of the cast look out for their new projects to get a glimpse of their favorites.

Fans of Tony Soprano of The Soprano series, James Gandolfini can see him in his upcoming movies; “Down The Shore” as Bailey, “Voilet Daisy” as Michael, “Extremely loud and incredibly close” (2012), “Twylight Zones” (2012) and “Cogan’s Trade” (2012). There’s a long-time debate prevalent among the masses about, whether TV has entered into a par-excellence era, where it can be considered equal to masterpieces of silver screen.

Well, I’m not here to take stands, but to throw light on what the graceful actress of The Sopranos, Edie Falco feels about it!

Edie definitely believes in the power of television, but she’s the one, who instead of making a comparison, takes delight in enjoying the achievements that television has made in years gone by. That’s what we call the golden age of television as the finest pieces of work that have been presented on TV so far, speak volumes of its accomplishment.

If we take a deep look at Edie’s career graph, we’ll get to witness that she is the one, who had a helping hand in augmenting the count of cable dramas.

Don’t you believe me? Check out ‘The Sopranos’ or ‘Nurse Jackie’ and see it for yourself.

Without an ounce of doubt, the skilled actress has delivered some incredible work on cable television, but that doesn’t mean that the actress isn’t interested in movies or finds them less appealing.

It’s just that she doesn’t care for which medium she’s working. All she concentrates on is her project and the role that she’s given to play. While expressing her views on ‘movies and TV differentiation’, Edie said that if she had been offered same kind of portrayal in a movie, she would have accepted that in a jiffy.

Both the things hold equal relevance in Edie’s eyes; however, she admits one advantage that a TV actor has. Apparently, he gets to develop a bond with the audience, during the length for which the character embraces the small screen.

That’s why; people get weaved into the magic of television as they get connected to it!

The Sopranos stands as one of the most successful series of all times, having a whooping 18 Primetime Emmy awards to its credit. The reason for the critical claim and colossal fan base of the show becomes evident as one gets The Sopranos download. The series exudes brilliance in every aspect of it, right from the apt characterization to the intriguing storyline.

The appeal of the show can be widely attributed to the fact that it is almost entirely inspired by real life events, which goes on to make it immensely believable. While the fact that the series draws inspiration from the DeCavalcante crime family is known to many, what’s a rarely known fact is that The Sopranos series also bears a deep similarity to the life of its creator, David Chase.

Chase describes his father as an angry man who constantly battered and belittled him, while his mom was a “passive-aggressive drama queen”, always on the verge of hysteria.

A reflection of these aspects of Chase’s life is evident on The Sopranos episodes, principally in the role of Livia Soprano, played by Nancy Marchand, which is directly inspired from his mother.

Chase has come forward with many more clandestine aspects of his life that have been in one way or the other, incorporated into the series, which include his battle with panic attacks and severe depression during his teen, which we get glimpses of in the protagonist of the series, Tony Soprano, played by James Gandolfini.

Further, Chase expresses the likeness that he finds between Tony Soprano and each one of us, interestingly pointing out that “the only difference between him and everybody I know is he’s the Don of New Jersey.”

If you wish to get a glimpse into this real-to-life drama, you can do so by watching The Sopranos online from here.

Each episode of The Sopranos is one that will tug at your heart’s strings as you get to the bottom of its intriguing plot. Season 6, being the final season of the series tied all the loose ends of the plot, offering the best possible culmination to it. Tune in to it right away!

Although she received award for her portrayal of Nurse Jackie in the show of same name but it really warms my heart that her talent has finally been recognized. ‘The Sopranos’ stars bound for Sundance

Posted by: admin   in news · Comments Comments Off

The Sopranos” co-stars James Gandolfini and Edie Falco are in the hunt for awards at the Sundance Film Festival.

Robert Redford’s independent-film showcase next month includes director Jake Scott’s New Orleans drama “Welcome to the Rileys,” which co-stars Gandolfini and Stewart. Falco is among the cast of Eric Mendelsohn’s suburban drama “3 Backyards,” while Portman stars alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Rainn Wilson in Spencer Susser’s family tale “Hesher.”

The films are among 16 screening in Sundance’s U.S. dramatic competition and were selected from more than 1,000 movies submitted to the festival, which runs Jan. 21-31 in Park City, Utah.

Other titles announced Wednesday include Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman’s “Howl,” an Allen Ginsberg tale starring James Franco, Mary-Louise Parker, Jon Hamm and David Strathairn; Tanya Hamilton’s racial drama “Night Catches Us,” with Anthony Mackie and Kerry Washington; and Kevin Tyler Asch’s Ecstasy-smuggling crime story “Holy Rollers,” featuring Jesse Eisenberg.

Sundance is dispensing with its opening-night tradition of premiering a film that is not competing for a prize. Instead, it will start with screenings of one dramatic competition film and one entry in the documentary competition. Those opening films will be announced later.

“We decided to launch into the competition rather than trying to find a film that encapsulates the whole eclectic group that follows,” said John Cooper, a longtime Sundance programmer who is overseeing the show for the first time after being promoted to festival director in March.

The competition presents stars of past top prize winners at Sundance. Among them are Derek Cianfrance’s marital drama “Blue Valentine,” with Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling, who starred in the festival’s 2001 grand jury award winner “The Believer.”

Melissa Leo — who starred in last year’s grand jury prize winner, “Frozen River,” which earned her an Academy Award nomination — appears in two competition films this time: Stewart and Gandolfini’s “Welcome to the Rileys” and Ryan Piers Williams’ war-homecoming drama “The Dry Land.” The latter also features “Ugly Betty” star America Ferrera, whose career break came with “Real Women Have Curves,” which won the 2002 audience award as favorite U.S. drama among Sundance movie-goers.

Mark Ruffalo makes his directing debut with the faith-healing story “Sympathy for Delicious,” reuniting him on-screen with Laura Linney, his co-star in “You Can Count on Me,” which shared the festival’s 2000 grand jury prize. “Sympathy for Delicious” also stars Orlando Bloom and Juliette Lewis.

The 16 films in Sundance’s U.S. documentary competition include “Casino Jack & the United States of Money,” a study of corruption surrounding former lobbyist Jack Abramoff that was directed by Alex Gibney, whose “Taxi to the Dark Side” won the 2007 documentary Oscar.

Davis Guggenheim — whose Al Gore global-warming story “An Inconvenient Truth” premiered at Sundance in 2006 and won the documentary Oscar for that year — returns to the festival with the competition documentary “Waiting for Superman,” which scrutinizes the American public-education system.

Also in the documentary competition are Jessica Hernandez’s “Bhutto,” a portrait of slain Pakistani leader Benazir Bhutto; Robin Hessman’s “My Perestroika,” which traces the lives of five Moscow residents after the Soviet Union’s collapse; and Sebastian Junger and Tim Hetherington’s “Restrepo,” which examines the war in Afghanistan.

Sundance organizers also announced the lineup of 16 films each in the festival’s world-cinema narrative and documentary categories.

This site will help you download other favorite episode videos like Bleach, Gilmore girls and much more…

The Sopranos’ Drea de Matteo is joining the cast of Desperate Housewives

Posted by: admin   in Cast, news · Comments Comments Off

Leave it to the people behind Desperate Housewives to make sure that Wisteria Lane is never short of a vixen to stir things up. Producers have been on the lookout for another housewife to join the ABC dramedy for quite some time and now that Nicolette Sheridan’s character Edie is finally out of the picture, it’s time to put a face to Edie’s highly anticipated replacement.

According to Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello, Emmy-winning Sopranos heroine Drea de Matteo is joining the cast of Desperate Housewives as a series regular next season. Though her character is yet to be named, she’ll be playing the matriarch of a new Italian family. On the other hand, casting is underway for her on-screen landscape designer husband and their 19-year-old tightly wound son, who is likely to strike a spark with one of the neighborhood girls.

Perhaps no one can ever replace Nicolette Sheridan’s Edie but you have to give props to the people behind this brilliant casting choice. Drea de Matteo obviously has that strong Italian vibe going and seeing her blend in with the rest of the residents of Wisteria Lane would be like a fish out of water — unless her character traded the hectic New York City scene for the picket-fenced life on Wisteria Lane for an entirely different agenda.

Apart from playing Adriana La Cerva, fiancée of Tony Soprano’s protegé, Christopher Moltisanti on the mob drama The Sopranos, Drea de Matteo has also played Joey Tribbiani’s sister Gina on the NBC sitcom Joey and graced the big screen as part of films like Lake City, The Good Life and Broken English. At present, she stars as Wendy Case on FX original series Sons of Anarchy and is working on the movie New York, I Love You.

The Sopranos: Edie Falco has come a long way

Posted by: admin   in news · Comments Comments Off

Edie Falco who played the famous Mob wife Carmela Soprano in “The Sopranos” is now starring as a nurse in her own series “Nurse Jackie” which is a darkly funny comedy premiered on Showtime. Falco plays a highly experienced, twisted emergency room nurse in New York’s All Saints hospital. She plays a unique character who is partly Florence Nightingale and partly fugitive, addicted to prescription drugs having a bad past. Jackie can go any length for anything she wants like she can have mid-day sex with a staff pharmacist who in return supplies her pain-killers. She can easily break the law and doesn’t think once before flushing a patient’s ear into the toilet.

The 45-year old Falco is a single mother of two children, a 5-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl. She says that single motherhood complicates her acting career but is very happy. This three time Emmy Award winner’s life has been a whirlpool. She is flooded with projects after The Sopranos who until 1990′s was so poor that she lived in Shacks with thousand other roommates. She did everything from waitressing to playing clown at weddings to earn money. Although she has done some films but she is better remembered as a television actress.

Falco has no problems playing Jackie’s character as she herself is a recovering alcoholic who has been a teetotaller for 17 years. Her Swedish origin was e reason for her getting addicted to alcohol and has experienced the damage it can do. Her memories of her scrounging days and her visits to the ER helped her in preparing for “Nurse Jackie”.

Falco has never married though her romance with her co-star Stanley Tucci became very famous. Falco was attracted to theatre quite early because of her mother work at the community theatre but she could never get that big break. She was confident that some day she would get into acting and this strong belief changed things for her. She got several television roles and finally came “The Sopranos“.

According to Falco, neither getting sober nor her 2004 attack with breast cancer was her greatest nightmare. It was the persistent money problems that she faced in 1980′s and early 1990′s. Falco is very open-ended as an actor. Although she plans not to work this summer but if some good project comes up, she would definitely give it a thought.
